To my Hoosier Friends...

Since I grew up a Hoosier, I think this whole "Daylight Savings" stuff is total B.S. It doesn't save me any daylight. But today, poor old Indiana will have to arbitrarily change their clocks, just like the rest of us.

However, don't forget to update your computers... No more is the "Eastern (Indiana)" Timezone applicable! You get to use "Eastern" or "Central" as appropriate. (How's that for screwed up? Hoosiers have to suffer DST with the rest of us, but the state can't be on one timezone... poor suckers. Oh well, they voted in Daniels, that's what they get.) Also, don't forget that if you use Outlook, it will "conveniently" update your appointment times for you into the new timezone! Effectively making all of your appointments an hour off! Hooray!

Finally, I'll leave you with this piece of advice: spring forward, fall back. Now you have to remember that with the rest of us. And yes, it sucks.

Hell, even the farmers didn't want it! I think the rest of the nation needed to take AWAY daylight savings time. Hrumph. Plus, I hate having to remember how to change my car radio clock. Stupid Daniels jerk.

Well, as a fellow (sorta former, since I don't live there) Hoosier, I think DST is lame, but fortunately, my computer auto corrects through the Internet, so it's always right! Yay!

DST Rules! said:

I grew up in northwestern IN, where we DID change clocks to keep in sync with Chicago. DST is the best part of the year, when the flippin sun is not rising at 4:00am, just as I am getting to sleep. I'm tired of people bitching about DST and how hard it is to adjust. Hey, ever travel more than 50 miles away from home? Well, maybe we should get rid of DST, but only if the entire nation sets clocks forward and leaves them there. Bright sunlight at 5am is a crime, sunlight at 9pm is a beautiful thing.

I love sunlight at 9pm... but in the winter when you need some daylight saved, you don't get it. DST SUCKS!!!!

You're right, we should all just move an hour ahead and forget it, proving my point once again that DST SUCKS!!! :)

Hey man, I didn't vote for Daniels; I can't accept the blame.
And anyone you'd actually want to have a conversation with, didn't vote for daniels either.

It's funny (not funny) that one man and a few business interests (mich's rich pals) can decide for the WHOLE STATE what to do about DST. It was one of the few interesting things about indiana.

The macs now believe we live in Columbus...

Umm, Dave, you should realize that your problem with winter time is with standard time, not with daylight savings (or as the Brits say, "summer") time.

Standard time sucks. Daylight savings time RAWKS MY WORLD. Bring it on, baby, pour it all over, make it year round!

Payton, being from Indiana, where "Daylight Savings" has never been observed, we use the term generically to refer to the arbitrary switching of the clock.
